Google is bring back missing out on evaluations in Google Business Profiles after repairing a bug that caused them to get removed.

Google is repairing a bug that caused reviews to go missing from Google Service Profiles. Google verifies evaluations are getting brought back. Google’s Browse Intermediary, Danny Sullivan, announced on Buy Twitter Verified in reply to Mike Blumenthal, who states he reported the bug a week back.

Blumenthal isn’t overemphasizing the seriousness of the bug. Reviews are a dining establishment’s bread and butter, and removing them can substantially impact profits.

There are numerous threads in the Google Service Profile assist forums started by entrepreneur who lost most or all of their evaluations.

In each thread, business owners share something in common. After applying Google’s suggested edits to their company profile, they all lost evaluations.

Blumenthal writes in a post that he found Google was changing the consumer identification (CID) number when organizations applied suggested edits:

“With some digging, I found that in each case Google had changed the CID, the identifier Google utilizes to connect all pertinent information to a company, including evaluations. Usually the CID just changes when two listings combine or Google has hard-suspended a listing for standards violations and then renewed it.”

Customer reviews are related to a specific CID number, which suggests altering the CID gets rid of the reviews.

That ought to never occur, particularly not when applying Google’s recommended edits.

A fix is on the way, and hopefully, it’s as easy as going back the affected Google Service Profiles to their initial CID numbers.

We’ll upgrade this post if Google shares extra details.
